As per UGC Notice No: 2-102/2022 (CPP – ii) – har ghar dhyan – meditation program by co-ordinator of art of living Mr.R.K.Bhat was conducted on 20th January 2023 under the flagship of UGC Cell of the college at the college auditorium where more than 65 student participants and 8 teacher participants learnt the vehement breathing technique. It was a moment of relaxation and the art of living in the present moment through breathing that made this exclusive program special as was recalled Dr.Vijayalakshmi N.S, program co-ordinator. The principal, IQAC co-ordinator, Staff representative and student welfare officer were present in the program.
BHARATIYA BHASHA UTSAV
“MY LANGUAGE – MY SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN”
December 13, 2022
With reference to UGC order No:- F.1-11/2022, In commemoration of “Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav” to be celebrated in higher education institutions on December 11, 2022 – My language, my signature campaign was initiated by the coordinator of the University Grants Commission cell of the institute Dr. Vijayalakshmi N.S in college premises on December 13th, 2022. Mr. Hemanatha KV, secretary, AOLE ® sullia inaugurated the program by signing in the regional Kannada language. This activity was followed in full swing by the principal, teaching and student fraternity pledging to sign any document in the future in their respective regional language. The prime point of attraction was with student union council vice president Ms. Chaithanya K. signing in Tulu regional language. The principal prof. Rudra Kumar M. M. presided over the activity. Mrs. Mamatha K., IQAC coordinator and Mrs. Rathnavathi D. were also present on the occasion.
JANJATIYA HEROES IN FREEDOM STRUGGLE – DEBATE COMPETITION
November 15th, 2022As per UGC notification, D.O.No F.22-96/2022 (CPP -II) – the Government of India has declared 15th November i.e., the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as “Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas” every year in higher education institutions to be celebrated as the legacy of unsung heroes and legacy of great personalities. Thus in commemoration of the occasion of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” a debate competition on the theme contribution of “janjatiya heroes in the freedom struggle” was held among undergraduate students of Nehru Memorial College at the institute’s audio-visual room at 3.30 pm
The debate competition on unsung heroes of freedom struggle was organised by the University Grants Commission cell of the college in association with the department of history. The session was inaugurated by prof. M. Balchandra Gowda, academic advisor. The session was presided over by Prof.Rudra Kumar M. M., principal. Dr.Vijayalakshmi N.S, UGC cell coordinator of the institute welcomed the participants to the gathering and prof. Thipeswamy D. H., department of history proposed the vote of thanks. Student welfare officer Mrs. Rathnavathi D. was also present on the occasion.
The first place in the debate competition was bagged by Ms.Chaithanya K of Final B.A. and the second place was secured by Mr. Nishanth of B.S.W.
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
With reference to the order Fo No。 1-24/2022(e. Gov) on June 3rd “Only One Earth”Hasiru – Usiru – an initiative drive towards creating garden of small plants and trees was undertaken at government higher primary school Darkastu, Bellare. Sullia taluk upholds the motive of Only one earth. This was led by Mr.Kuldeep Pelthadka, lecturer of botany and all members of the nature club students and staff were present on 11/06/2022.
With regard to notice From the University Grants Commission consisting of reference No: – 2- 54/2022 (CPP -ii), Under the flagship of UGC cell headed by Dr. Vijayalakshmi N.S, the staff and students of Nehru Memorial College Sullia organised and enthusiastically participated in the rally titled “Fit India Freedom Rider Cycle Rally” on World Bicycle Day celebrated on June 3rd, 2022 upholding the objective to cherish and follow the noble ideas that inspired freedom struggle to enhance the spirit of brotherhood and nationalism, popularising the usage of cycling to solve the dual crisis of global warming and unhealthy lifestyle.
The Rally took off at the college premises by take-off flagging by institute’s Physical director Mr. Seetharam P.D, which mounted towards K.V.G Circle, tredding major pathways and lanes of more than 2 kms towards sullia city and backward.
Thereby our pride destination Nehru Memorial College, sullia has ensured that the program was with fervours and having maximum outreach through the institute by website/ display boards/ distribution of pamphlets so as to make the event a grand success.
With regard to notice from the University Grants Commission consisting of reference No: – 2- 15/2022 (CPP -ii),
our students namely Rahul A.R of second-year B.B.A. along with his fellow mates Rathna Sinchana and Kritika of first-year B.Com under the guidance Dr.Vijayalakshmi N.S, assistant professor in-charge of the UGC cell of the institute presented a melodious Tulu song of three min – “Dena – Na Dena’’ reflecting the ideology of EK Bharath Shresth Bharath by magnificiently upholding the Tulu regional cultural experiences of our neighbouring taluk Dakshin Kannada. Hereby our prestigious institute triumphs at reliving the cultural experiences of people within our vicinity.

Our Students Kuladeep H of Final year B.Com. and Ms. Monitha O.G. of second-year BBA has successfully participated National Intercollege Cross Word Competition under the able guidance of Dr. Vijayalakshmi N.S., assistant professor, in charge of the UGC cell of the institute.
The students attended successive online competitions for consecutive four Sundays starting from April 2nd 2022 to April 24th 2022 to be grabbing the 74th and 85th positions all over India. They eagerly look forward to entering the zonal rounds of the competition. We wish our students enduring success in all their ventures.
