National Integration Camp
Ms. Arpita D.K II B.Sc an NSS Leader participated in the National Integration Camp held at JSS College of Pharmacy and JSS Higher Education, Mysuru, from 12 March 2026 to 18 March 2026. During the camp, she secured the Third Prize in the Debate Competition conducted on 13 March 2026.
NSS Annual Special Camp
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of NMC, Sullia, successfully organized its Annual Special Camp from 17th February to 23rd February 2026 at Government Higher Primary School, Peralu.
The camp was inaugurated by Sri Hemanath K. V., General Secretary, AOLE, Sullia. The inaugural function was presided over by Dr.K V Chindananda President AOLE (R) Sullia The programme was graced by Dr.Rudrakumar M. M., Principal, NMC, Mrs. Lathashree, Headmistress, Government Higher Primary School, Peralu, and Sri Venkarama Hatyadi, Sri MohanDas Kukkudelu President, SDMC, Government Higher Primary School, Peralu.
The seven-day camp featured a variety of educational, social, and community service activities. NSS volunteers conducted a village survey, organized a medical camp for students and the general public, participated in a personality development programme, and took part in the Ranga Arabethi Programme. As part of the service activities, the volunteers cleaned the school campus and painted the school building. Every evening, cultural programmes presented by the volunteers added colour and enthusiasm to the camp, fostering teamwork and creativity.
The valedictory function was held on 23rd February 2026 and was presided over by Dr. Rudrakumar M. M., Principal, NMC, Sullia. The valedictory address was delivered by Sri Chandrashekar Peralu, Administrative Officer, NMC. The programme was also attended by Sri Sadananda Mavaji, President, Arebhashe Academy, Mrs. Lathashree, Headmistress, Government Higher Primary School, Peralu, and the President of the SDMC.
The camp concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from the NSS volunteers, who demonstrated a strong commitment to community service, leadership, discipline, and social responsibility. The camp served as a valuable platform for learning, service, and personality development while strengthening the bond between the institution and the local community.

Community Orientation Programme
The NSS conducted a Community Orientation Programme on 18-12-2025 at Government High School, Ajjavara. The programme was presided over by Mr. Gopinath Mithadka, Headmaster of Government Higher Primary School, Ajjavara. The chief guest of the programme was Mr. Prakash Kanemaradka, President of SDMC, Government High School, Ajjavara. Other distinguished guests included Mrs. Gururaj Ajjavara, President of the Alumni Association, and Mrs. Shashmi Bhat, President of PTA NMC. The programme was attended by all staff members, NSS volunteers, and NSS Officers Chithralekha K.S. and Hariprasad A.
One-day National NSS Camp
A one-day National NSS (National Service Scheme) camp was organized by Nehru Memorial College, Sullia on December 12 at Sri Shastaveshwara Sabhabhavana, Karlappadi, Ajjavara.
The program was inaugurated by Mr. Rupananda Karlappadi, a member of the temple management committee. Mr. Gururaj, President of Pratap Yuvaka Mandala, Ajjavara, and Mrs. Shashmi Bhat, President of Chaitra Yuvati Mandala, conveyed their best wishes for the success of the program.
The dignitaries present on the dais included Mrs. Sulochana, member of the temple management committee; Mr. Yashodhara Naralu, General Secretary of the Festival Committee; Mr. Jagannatha Rai Paddebana, Treasurer; Mr. Narayana Baipadithaya of the temple Gurumane; Mr. Karunakara Karlappadi; Mrs. Jayalakshmi, Honorary Advisor of the Yuvati Mandala; and Mr. Naveen, Secretary of the Yuvaka Mandala.
The NSS Programme Officer, Mrs. Chithralekha K. S., delivered the welcome address, while Mr. Hariprasad Atyadi proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Arpita compered the program.
The NSS volunteers and local residents actively cooperated and contributed to the successful conduct of the camp.




YUVA AAPADAMITRA TRAINING PROGRAMME
NSS volunteers Anvitha R. Bhat II Bcom and Akshath of II BBA participated in the Yuva Aapda Mitra Training Programme organized at Nitte University, Deralakatte, Mangaluru, from 1st December to 7th December 2025. The training equipped the volunteers with essential disaster preparedness, emergency response, and rescue skills.
NSS Connect With Children
The NSS Unit organized an NSS Cultural Initiative titled “NSS Connect With Children” on 06-12-2025 at Government Upper Primary School, Paimbachal, Sullia. The programme was presided over by Mrs. Prathima, Headmistress of GUPS Paimbachal.
During the programme, NSS volunteers actively engaged with the primary school children by teaching them various cultural activities, creating a lively and interactive learning environment. The initiative aimed to encourage creativity and strengthen the bond between students and the community.
In addition, the volunteers conducted a plantation drive in the school surroundings in memory of Salumarada Thimmakka, promoting environmental awareness and responsibility among the children.
The programme was successful in fostering cultural exchange, environmental consciousness, and social responsibility among both the NSS volunteers and the young students.






World AIDS Day
On the occasion of World AIDS Day, the NSS Wing, in collaboration with the Rotary Club, organized a Blood Donation Camp at Rotary School, Sullia, to promote voluntary blood donation and create awareness about the importance of donating blood.
Nss Volunteers Drive Success at the State Level Weightlifting Event
The Karnataka Sports Association organized a State-Level Weightlifting Competition from 8th to 10th November 2025. NSS volunteers of the college rendered their valuable service as volunteers throughout the event. They assisted in the management and coordination of various activities, ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the competition.






NSS COMMUNITY ORIENTATED PROGRAMME
On 06-11-2025, the NSS Unit organized a programme at the Taluk Health Office, Sullia, where nutritious kits were distributed to TB patients of Sullia Taluk using the volunteers’ own contributions.
Mr. Lokesh T., Health Superintendent of the Health Department, Sullia, was present on the occasion. He guided the NSS volunteers and provided valuable suggestions on community service, health awareness, and the importance of supporting patients with proper nutrition and care.
The programme highlighted the commitment of NSS volunteers towards social responsibility and their active role in supporting public health initiatives.

Drug Awareness Programme
The Drug Awareness Human Chain Programme was organized in collaboration with the Police Department. The programme witnessed the active participation of various associations, organizations, students, and members of the public. The initiative aimed to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free society.
NSS Unit organized a visit to Bethany Convent Old Age Home
The NSS Unit organized a visit to Bethany Convent Old Age Home, Noojibaltila, on 11/10/2025. The programme was presided over by Sister Veena, and Sullia Zone Convener Smt. Arathi was present on the occasion. This event was conducted as part of the Sullia–Kadaba zonal programme.
During the visit, NSS volunteers actively engaged with the elderly residents by organizing various cultural programmes and competitions. The volunteers also spent meaningful time interacting with the residents, sharing experiences and learning about the lives and challenges of elderly people. The programme created a warm and joyful atmosphere, fostering mutual understanding and respect between the volunteers and the senior members.







NSS Volunteers Attend Gandhi Jayanti Day Jatha
The NSS volunteers of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, participated in the Gandhi Jayanti Day Jatha conducted from Jyothi Circle to Gandhinagar. The programme was inaugurated by Sri K. V. Chidananda, President of the Academy of Liberal Education(R), Sullia.
The event was organized by the Gandhi Vichara Vedike in association with various organizations and associations. Representatives from several institutions and organizations actively participated in the programme. Among those present were Sri Chandrashekar Peralu, Administrative Officer of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, Sri Sanjeeva Kudpaje, and reporter Sri Harish, along with other dignitaries and participants. The programme was conducted to commemorate the ideals and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
State-Level Selection Camp for the Republic Day Parade Pre-RD Camp (2025–26)
The NSS Unit of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia is proud to announce that Mr. Abhishek, a second-year B.Sc. student and NSS volunteer, has been selected by Mangalore University to participate in the State-Level Selection Camp for the Republic Day Parade Pre-RD Camp (2025–26) of the National Service Scheme (NSS).
He participated in the State-Level and National-Level Selection Camp held at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, in September. The camp was organized to select outstanding NSS volunteers for the Republic Day Parade Pre-RD Camp and related national-level NSS activities.




Swachhata Abhiyana and Jagruthi Programme at Mandekolu
The NSS unit conducted a Swachhata Abhiyana and Jagruthi Programme at Mandekolu, the NSS unit’s adopted village. The programme was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Rudrakumar, and inaugurated by Shri Kushala, President of the Grama Panchayat, Mandekolu.
The chief guests of the programme were Shri Suresh Kanemaradka, President of the Agricultural Cooperative Society, Mandekolu, and Mrs. Ratnavathi student welfare officer. Mrs. Mamatha K., IQAC NMC, was also present on the occasion.
All NSS volunteers actively participated in the programme.

NSS Day Celebration
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Day was celebrated on 24th September at Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, under the auspices of the National Service Scheme, Mangalore University.
The programme was presided over by the Principal of Nehru Memorial College, Dr. Rudrakumar M.M. In his presidential address, he highlighted the importance of leadership, social service, and personality development among students through NSS activities.
The chief guest, Mr. Sanjeeva Kudppaje, shared his 27 years of experience in NSS and inspired the students by narrating his experiences and contributions to community service.
The programme was attended by NSS Programme Officers Mrs. Chithralekha K.S. and Mr. Hariprasad Atyadi. The teaching faculty and NSS volunteers of the college actively contributed to the success of the event.
The programme commenced with a prayer by NSS volunteers. Mrs. Chithralekha K.S. delivered the welcome address, while Mr. Hariprasad Atyadi proposed the vote of thanks. The event was compered by Abhishek M., II B.Sc.
NSS student leaders Gautham B. (II B.Com), Arpita (II B.Sc.), Tashwan (II BCA), and Anvitha (II B.Com) were present on the dais.

Guest Talk on TB
The NSS unit organized a guest talk on 09/10/2025 on the topic of Tuberculosis (TB). The programme was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Rudrakumar M.M. The resource person for the programme was Mr. Lokesh Tantepady, Senior Health Superintendent, Health Department, Sullia.
He provided valuable information about TB to the NSS volunteers and also motivated them by explaining how they can help TB patients. NSS Officers Chithralekha K.S. and Hariprasad A. were present during the programme.

NMC NSS Receives State-Level Best Unit Award, Chitralekha K.S. Honored as Best Program Officer
The NSS unit of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, has been awarded the State-Level Best Unit Award, while Unit First Program Officer Chitralekha K.S. has been honored with the State-Level Best Program Officer Award. The award ceremony will be held at the Glass House, Raj Bhavan, Bengaluru, on 17/3/25. The awards will be presented by the Governor. Chithralekha K. S. will receive the State Level NSS Best Programme Officer Award, and the NSS Unit will received the State Level Best Unit Award, received by the College Principal, Dr. Rudrakumar M. M.

Workshop on “Study and Documentation of Place Names in Sullia Taluk” Organized by Karnataka Arebhashe Culture and Literature Academy & NMC NSS Unit
Sullia, March 8: The Karnataka Arebhashe Culture and Literature Academy, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Nehru Memorial College, organized a workshop on “Study and Documentation of Place Names in Sullia Taluk” on March 8 at the Nehru Memorial College auditorium.
The workshop was inaugurated by Sadananda Mavji, President of the Karnataka Arebhashe Culture and Literature Academy, Madikeri, by lighting the lamp and extending his best wishes for the event.
The resource person, Chandrashekar Peral, Administrator of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, provided a detailed insight into the study of place names in Sullia Taluk. He explained how volunteers should conduct research, how different places got their names, and the historical and geographical aspects behind them. He also guided the participants on how to document this information systematically.
The workshop was presided over by Dr. Rudrakumar M. M., Principal of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia. Other dignitaries on the dais included Ratnavati D., Student Welfare Officer, NMC Sullia; NSS Unit Officers Smt. Chithralekha K. S. and Shri Hariprasad Atyadi; and NSS leaders Harshith K. The NSS unit organized a traffic volunteering program, “Deepavali with My Bharath Volunteering,” on October 28, 29, and 30. A police inspector provided guidelines for the event.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) students of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, organized a cleanliness drive on October 30 as part of the “Diwali with My Bharat” program in collaboration with the Sullia Merchants’ Association.
Dr. Nandakumar, Health Officer, served as a resource person and provided insights into the adverse health effects of pollution and cleanliness issues. Mr. Sudhakar Rai, President of the Association of Commercial and Industrial Entrepreneurs, shared information on cleanliness and hygiene.The event was graced by guests, including Abdul Rehman, Secretary of the Sullia Merchants’ Association, and Prabhakaran Nair, Director of the Sullia Merchants’ Association.

NMC NSS Volunteers Serve at Local Health Centers
As part of the Deepavali with My Bharat program, students of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, under the National Service Scheme (NSS), participated in a service initiative at local hospitals. Guided by Sullia Taluk Health Officer Dr. Nandakumar, the NSS volunteers visited, learned, and provided services at Primary Health Centers in Bellare, Guthigaru, and Aranthodu on October 29 and 30.
The health officers and staff at these centers provided guidance to the students who had come for training.
During this time, the students were taught how to administer first aid to outpatients. They also learned how to check blood sugar levels, measure blood pressure, administer oxygen, and respond to patients upon arrival.














NMC Sullia NSS Students Participate in State-Level Camp
Nehru Memorial College, Sullia’s National Service Scheme (NSS) leaders, Havyashree K.S., a second-year B.Com student, and Kaushik, a second-year BCA student, participated in the state-level NSS Volunteer Leadership Skills Training Workshop organized by Yenepoya University, Mangalore, on October 20.
The training was conducted by resource persons Dr. Arun E. Bhagwat and Vikram Saxena, who guided the students on developing leadership qualities and achieving goals through various activities.
During the workshop, the college’s NSS Program Officer, Chithralekha K.S., was honored by Sajjan Pratishthan, Ummar Bijjadakatte College, in recognition of her achievement in receiving the “Best NSS Program Officer Award” from Mangalore University for the academic year 2022-2023.
Dr. Sheshappa, the NSS Coordinator of Mangalore University, was present on the occasion.












Chitralekha K.S., the Program Officer of the first unit of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at Nehru Memorial College, was awarded the Best NSS Program Officer award at the Mangalore University level. The award was presented by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University on September 26.
Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, has been awarded the Best National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit Award at the Mangalore University level, and the Best Program Officer Award has been conferred upon Unit First Program Officer Chitralekha K.S. In a ceremony held on September 26 at Mangalore University College, the Vice-Chancellor of the university presented the Best Unit Award to NMC Principal Dr. M.M. Rudrakumar and the Best Program Officer Award to Unit First Program Officer Chitralekha K.S.

THE NSS UNIT OF NMC ORGANISED A SEVEN DAY CAMP FROM 10/3/2024 TO 16/3/24 AT SHRI SHASTAVO BHAJANA MANDIRA PILLIKAJE CHOKKADI SULLIA.THE CAMP INAUGURATED BY K V HEMANANTHA, SECRETARY AOLE SULLIA.DURING CAMP VARIOUS PROGRAMS WERE CONDUCTED INCLUDING COMMUNITY SURVEYAND MEDICAL CHEKUPS FACILITATED BY KVG MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL SULLIA AND KVG AYURVEDIC COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL SULLIA.
THE STUDENTS ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED IN SHRAMADANA CULTURAL EVENTS,AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMS.
