World No - Tobacco Day - 2026

The NCC Unit of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia observed World No Tobacco Day under the Nasha Mukti Abhiyan on 31 May 2026 in the College AV Room.

The programme commenced with an awareness session on the harmful effects of tobacco.by Dr. Mamatha K, Head of the Department of Political Science, served as the resource person and delivered an enlightening talk on the adverse health effects of tobacco consumption and the need to promote a Tobacco-Free Lifestyle among Youth.

On this occasion, Mr. Shridhara V Asst. Prof. Dept. of Commerce administered the Anti-Tobacco Pledge, motivating the participants to abstain from tobacco use and contribute towards creating awareness in society.

As part of the programme, an Essay Writing Competition was conducted for NCC cadets. Many participants submitted thoughtful and informative essays on the theme of tobacco control and healthy living. The best articles were selected and the winners were awarded prizes. The programme was organized and coordinated by Lt. Seetharama M. D, ANO, NCC Unit, Nehru Memorial College, Sullia. A total of 85 NCC cadets, comprising 45 SD and 40 SW cadets, actively participated in the programmes.

Blood Donation Camp - 2026

On account of the Golden Jubilee Year celebration of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, the NCC Unit of Nehru Memorial College organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on 21st May 2026 at the Blood Bank Centre, K.V.G. Medical College & Hospital, Sullia.

The programme was conducted in association with NSS, Youth Red Cross Wing, Rover and Ranger Wing, and IQAC of the college. The camp aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of blood donation and to encourage social responsibility and humanitarian service.

A total of 15 donors voluntarily donated blood during the camp. Altogether, 15 units of blood were successfully collected and handed over to the Blood Centre of K.V.G. Medical College & Hospital for medical use. The college management, Principal, programme officers, and medical staff appreciated the noble contribution made by the student donors. The camp was successfully organized with active participation and cooperation from students and staff members.

ANTI-DRUGS DAY - 2025

Nehru Memorial College, NCC Units 1/19 & 3/19, in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka and the KVG Group of Institutions organised

“Anty- Drug Day” walkathon from KVG Junction to NMC. 

NCC cadets, students and invited guests gathered at NMC and they are Address by the Guest of Honour Mrs. Manjula T the Thashildar of sullia.   Dr. Leeladar D. V. the Principal of KVG Ayurved Medical College & Hospital Sullia, delivered keynote address on the dangers of drug abuse and the need for a drug‑free society.

Students took pledge to abstain from substance abuse and promote awareness on it. The oath was read by the cadet Bindushree

The programme highlighted on reinforced preventive education, community involvement, and underscored the role of NCC in fostering youth discipline and social responsibility.

78th NCC RAISING DAY - 2025

In the view of 78 th NCC Raising Day, the fitness program was conducted for NCC cadets with of objective of creating awareness about the importance of physical fitness, discipline and overall well being among the youth. Health awareness educates the cadets about the benefits of regular exercise and healthy habits for lifelong wellbeing.

MANE MANE POLICE- 2025

“Mane Mane Police” is a community policing initiative recently launched by the Karnataka State Police in mid-July 2025. Its goal is to bring police officers directly to residents, addressing issues where they occur.

On 26th July 2025, the NMC NCC organized a discussion on the “Mane Mane Police” initiative in collaboration with the Sullia Police and the Nagar Panchayat, Sullia, at the Sullia Nagar Panchayat Hall.

The resource person for the program, SI Santhosh Kumar, briefed the cadets about the objectives and workings of the “Mane Mane Police” program.

     The main objective was to create awareness among the public and cadets about safety, law and order, and to build a strong bond between the police and the community.

NCC cadets actively participated in the event, along with police officers, President, Vice President and members of the Nagar Panchayat, Sullia.

KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS CELEBRATION 2025-26

Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated on 26th July 2025 by NMC NCC in collaboration with the Taluk Panchayat, Sullia.

The event began with a warm welcome to all, followed by a speech from the special guest, Bhageerathi Murullia, MLA of Sullia.

      A speech by ex-army officer Jayaram Sir highlighted the remarkable sacrifices made by the Indian Army to protect the country from various external threats, which truly inspired the cadets.

Later, all the chief guests and cadets paid their respects by offering flowers.

The presence of retired military officers and NCC cadets filled the atmosphere with enthusiasm and patriotism.

CYBER FRAUD AWARENESS PROGRAM 2025-26

A Cybersecurity and Security Awareness Program was organised by the NMC NCC in collaboration with the Sullia Police and Nagar Panchayat, Sullia, on 26th July 2025 at the Nagara Panchayat Hall, Sullia.

The aim of the program was to educate NCC cadets about various aspects of cyber safety and cyber fraud, and to develop responsible digital habits.

The session was conducted by SI Santosh Kumar, who explained the most common types of cyber fraud and ways to avoid them. Cadets actively participated by raising questions and various doubts which were cleared by the resource person. NMC NCC Cadets, ANO NMC NCC Lt.Setharama MD, SI Santhosh Kumar, President and Vice President of Sullia Nagara Panchayath participates in this awareness program.

The program was highly beneficial and motivated the cadets to adopt secure digital practices and spread awareness in their communities.

Yoga Day 2025

Nehru Memorial College Sullia, in collaboration with the NCC, NSS, and IQAC celebrated National Yoga Day on 21/06/2025 in the college premises. The program was presided over by Dr. Rudrakumar M M,  Principal of Nehru Memorial College. Similarly, Mrs. Usha K, Yoga Instructor of Art of Living, Sullia, arrived as the chief guest and explained the importance of Yoga to the students by making them practice Yoga, and emphasized the importance of incorporating Yoga in daily life for health and harmony.

In this program, Associate NCC Officer of Nehru Memorial College, Lt. Seetharama. M.D. IQAC Coordinator Dr. Mamatha K, Student Welfare Officer Smt. Ratnavathi D, as well as the faculty and students of the college participated.

The NCC Unit of NMC Sullia organized a grand welcome ceremony for the RDC cadets who attended the Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2025 in New Delhi. The ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. K. V. Chidanada, President of AOLE Sullia, who garlanded the RDC cadets. The event saw active participation from the general public, staff, and students, showcasing the community’s appreciation for the cadets’ achievements ¹.

The Republic Day Camp is a prestigious event that aims to foster national integration, discipline, and leadership among NCC cadets. The camp provides a platform for cadets to showcase their skills, learn from each other, and develop a sense of camaraderie. The welcome ceremony organized by NMC Sullia is a testament to the institution’s commitment to supporting and encouraging its students’ participation in national-level events.
