ELECTORAL LITERACY CLUB

Electoral Literacy Club is a platform to engage college students through interesting activities and to sensitise them on their electoral rights. Electoral Literacy Clubs are being setup in the country to promote electoral literacy in all age groups of the Indian citizens. The primary objective of the club is to sensitise student community about the democratic programmes to create awareness about electoral process, registration and voting.

Objectives:

  • OBJECTIVE 1

    To educate the targeted populations about voter registration, electoral process and related matters through hands on experience.

  • OBJECTIVE 2

    To facilitate EVM and VVPAT familiarization and electoral reforms.

  • OBJECTIVE 3

    To facilitate voter registration for its eligible members who are not yet registered.

  • OBJECTIVE 4

    Engage in promoting awareness of "Right to Vote'' among students, faculty members and community at large.

  • OBJECTIVE 5

    Enable critical thinking on issues related to elections, rights, democracies, non-democracies, electoral system and its processes.

  • OBJECTIVE 6

    Encourage student participation and mobility regarding election related issues in theory and practice.

  • OBJECTIVE 7

    To help the target group to understand the value of their vote and exercise their suffrage right in a confident, comfortable and ethical manner.

Programmes Conducted Under Electoral Literacy Club
2022-23

  • Voter awareness drives are conducted.
  • Training has been given to students to enroll their names in the electoral roll.
  • Special talks and practical training programmes were conducted about Voter Help Line App by inviting resource persons.
  • A skit on Value of Casting Vote was performed by the students.
  • Students have participated in the jatha related to Revision of Electoral Roll 2023 conducted by SVEEP Committee, Sullia Taluk.
  • Celebrated National Voter’s Day.
