Mangalore University Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament for Women (2025)

On November 6, 2025 Nehru Memorial College (NMC), Sullia, hosted the prestigious Mangalore University Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament for Women – Late Kolkebail Chandrashekara Shetty Memorial Trophy.

Inaugural Ceremony:

The tournament commenced with a grand inaugural ceremony attended by esteemed dignitaries from the fields of education and sports.

The event was presided over by Dr. K.V. Chidananda, President of the Academy of Liberal Education (R.), Sullia.
P.V. Narayanan, former renowned coach of Syndicate Bank and a veteran in the national volleyball circuit, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Guests of Honour: The ceremony was further dignified by the presence of-
Gerald Santhosh D’Souza, Director of Physical Education, Mangalore University.
Vishwanath K.T., President of the Alumni Association.
Chandrashekara Peralu, Administrator of Nehru Memorial College.
Madhura M.R., Secretary of the Alumni Association.

Tournament Highlights:

The tournament saw participation from various colleges under the jurisdiction of Mangalore University.
Standout Teams: SDM College, Ujire, continued its legacy of excellence in sports by emerging as a dominant force in the tournament, ultimately securing the championship title.
Alva’s College, Moodubidire, also delivered a stellar performance, pushing the competition to its limits and become the runners.

Valedictory:

The event concluded with a valedictory session where the winners were felicitated.

As part of the annual sports meet 2025-26 of Nehru Memorial College Sullia, Sports Meet was held for Alumni on November 19, 2025.

The Annual Sports Day of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, held on November 19, 2025, on a grand scale. The “Annual Sports Meet – 2025-26,” took place at the NMC Ground starting at 9:30 a.m.

The inauguration was graced by esteemed guests:
 Dr. K V Chidananda, President of AOLE(R) Sullia, as the President of the event.
 Dr. Podiya, Professor, Department of Physical Education, Govt. First Grade College,
Bettampady, Puttur, as the Chief Guest.

Highlights of the day included a colorful march past by the students, who received a salute from Dr. Podiya and Dr. K V Chidananda.

Students showcased their talents and sportsmanship in various activities including races, relays, and team games.

The event was overseen by Dr. Rudrakumar M M,Principal, with Lt. Seetharama M D, Physical Education Director, Sports Advisory committee members, Mrs. Rathnavathi D
Student Welfare Officer and Dr. Mamatha K , IQAC coordinator and all teaching and non- teaching staff contributing to its success.

Annual Sports Meet 2024-25
