College Day Celebration – 2021-22
The college day was celebrated on 25-8-2022 at the college auditorium. Dr. Chidananda K V, the President, Academy of Liberal Education presided over the function. Dr. Udayachandra P N, the Principal of S D M College, Ujire was the chief guest and Mr. Bojaraja Vamanjoor, a renowned Tulu film actor was the special guest of the function. Prof. M Balachandra Gowda, Academic advisor of NMC, Mrs. Rathnavathi D, Student welfare officer, Mr. Shivaprasad, the president of the Parent Teachers Association and office bearer of the student union were graced the occasion with their presence. Mr. Rudrakumar M M, the principal read the annual report on the activities of the college. Mr. Bharath M L, president of the Student union welcomed the guests, Ms. Pratheeksha B S, vice president of the union presented the message from the well-wishers, Ms. Lavanya, the joint secretary of the union and Mr. Yogeesh Bharadwaj, secretary of the cultural association have introduced the guests of the programme. Mr. Shrishyam S Prasad, secretary of the student union proposed the vote of thanks.
There was the felicitation ceremony for Ms. Ashritha K M, for securing 8th rank in B.Sc, Mr. Rakesh Gowda for outstanding performance in sports and Mr. Abhishek A for attending Republic day pared of NCC held at New Delhi of 26 January 2022. The programme was compered by Ms. Suno of III B.Sc and Mr. Kuladeep of III B.Com.
75th year of Independence Day celebration
75th year of Independence Day was celebrated in the college on 15-6-2022. Dr. K V Chidananda the president of the Academy of Liberal Education hoisted the flag. He addressed the students and advised them to join the defense sector and render their service to the country. The NCC cadets performed a drill under the leadership of Abhishek A, an attendee of the RDC camp of NCC held at NewDelhi. The winners of various competitions held in connection with the 75th year of the independence day celebration are honoured by Dr. K V Chidananda. On this occasion, Prof. M Balachandra Gowda, academic advisor NMC Sullia, Prof. Javare Gowda, retired prof. of NMC, Dr. B Prabhakara Shishila, retired principal of NMC, Dr. Poovappa Gowda K, retired principal of NMC, Mr. Rudrakumar M M, principal, teaching and non-teaching staffs, and all students were present.Celebration of Azadi ka Amruth Mahothsav: A documentary Film show on Rani Abbakka.
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college organized a documentary film show on Rani Abbakka on 1-8-2022 in commemoration of the celebration of 75th independence day. Ms. Tiya Chattarjee, an author, researcher, film-maker, scuba diver and poetess from Delhi, who has produced and directed the documentary was the chief guest of the program. She addressed the students about the documentary and discussed it with them. Mr. Rudrakumar M M has presided over the programme. Prof. Balachandra Gowda M, the academic advisor, Dr. Chandrashekara Damle, the retired prof. of Sociology and Mrs. Rathanavathi D, the student welfare officer have witnessed the programme with their benevolent presence. The programme was compered by the IQAC coordinator Mrs. Mamatha K. The members of IQAC cell and teaching and non-teaching staffs be present at the programme.
International Yoga Day
The internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college organized International Yoga Day on 20-06-2022 at the college auditorium for the college students. Mrs. Renuka M S, Alumni and Yoga Trainer from Mysore was the resource person. She explained about Yoga and Pranayama and trained students in some of the important Asanas. Mr. Rudrakumar M M, the principal, presided over the function. The IQAC coordinator Mrs. Mamatha K proposed the vote of thanks.
World Bicycle Day
With the motto to control the Earth’s temperature and maintain a healthy lifestyle, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, celebrated world bicycle day by conducting a bicycle rally on 30-5-2022. The principal Mr. Rudrakumar M M, conveyed wishes and spoke about the importance of cycling. The NCC officer Lt. Seetharama M D, flagged off the rally which was led by Mr. Sanjeeva K, HOD of Kannada and NSS officer and participated by many students that has begun from the campus and marched through the main streets of Sullia before ending in the college premise. The student welfare officer Mrs. Rathnavathi D, IQAC coordinator, Mrs. Mamatha K, the members of IQAC and the teaching and non-teaching faculty of the college have witnessed the meaningful programme.
One Day Free Health Checkup Camp
Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, organized a one-day free health checkup camp in collaboration with the Labour Department of Karnataka, Ajjavara Village Panchayat, Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and Rotary Club Sullia on 30-05-2022 at Ambedkar Bhavana, Menala, Ajjavara Village.
The camp was inaugurated by the president of Rotary Club Sullia, Rt. Prabhakaran Nayar. Smt. Sathyavathi, President of Ajjavara Village Panchayat presided over the function. The benign presence of Smt. Rathnavathi D, Student Welfare Officer, Dr. Madhushree, camp Health officer made the event resourceful. Smt. Mamatha K, IQAC Coordinator welcomed the gathering and Smt. Madhura M R, the Head of Dept. of Social Work proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Shridhara V, Smt. Ananthalakshmi, Smt. Bhavya P M, co-coordinators of IQAC and around 50 students were part of the successful event. More than 84 publics attended and get benefitted from the camp.
WORLD EARTH DAY
NSS and Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Nehru Memorial College Sullia in collaboration with K V G Ayurveda Medical College organized ‘World Earth Day’ on 21-05-2022 at 10.30 AM in the college audio-visual hall. The chief guest of the programme Mr. Thejakumar Baddadka stressed the need of maintaining a clean environment of the Earth for the benefit of the future generation. Principal, Mr. Rudrakumar M M presided over the function. To impress and create awareness among students, an essay competition was conducted for students from all sister institutions and winners were awarded books as prizes. NSS officer Mr. Sanjeeva K welcomed and delivered an introductory speech. Mrs. Chithralekha K S, NSS officer presented the introduction of the chief guest. Dr. Vijayalakshmi N S, HOD of Economics extended the vote of thanks. The programme was compeered by Mrs. Bhavya P M, the head Dept. of English. More than 75 students participated in the programme and pledged to protect Earth.
Global Re-Cycling Day
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell Nehru Memorial College, Sullia in collaboration with KVG Medical College, Sullia organized Global Re-Cycling Day on 18th March 2022 at the college auditorium. Prof. Rudrakumar M M, Principal of NMC presided over the function. Mr. Balakrishna Gowda Bollur, retired Principal of KVG Polytechnic Sullia was the resource person of the day. Dr. Neelambika Natarajan, Dean, KVG Medical College & Hospital was the guest of honour. The SWO Mrs. Rathnavathi D and Mrs. Harini Putturaya, Principal, NMPUC Sullia were present at the function.
Student Union 2021-22
The student union inauguration was held on 12 March, 2022 at college auditorium. Dr. K V Chidananda, President, Academy of Liberal Education® Sullia was the president of the function. Ln. M B Sadashiva, National trainer of Lions and JCI was the inaugurator and the chief guest of the day. Prof. Balachandra Gowda, AcademicAdvisor of NMC was the guest of honour. The student welfare officer Mrs. Rathnavathi D conducted the oath taking ceremony for the members and office barears of the student council. .The principal Prof. Rudrakumar M M conveyed wishes to all members of the union.
FACULTY DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP
One day seminar on Jalashakthi Abhiyana
Internal Quality Assurance cell of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia in collaboration with Regional Public Communication Office, Mangalore organized a one-day seminar on Jalashakthi Abhiyana on 4th March 2022 in the college Auditorium. Sri Vinayakumar Kandadka, President Nagara panchayath, Sullia inaugurated the function. Sri Rudrakumar M M Principal Nehru Memorial College, Sullia presided over the function. Sri Thukarama Gowda, Regional Public Communication officer in his introductory speech highlighted the vision and mission of the Jalashakthi Abhiyana. Chief Guest of the day Sri. Suresh Balila IEC of Jalajeevan Mission delivered an informative speech about the objectives of Jalashakthi Abhiyana. Mrs. Mamatha K IQAC coordinator welcomed the gathering and Mrs.Ananthalakshmi, HOD of BBA delivered the vote of thanks. Mrs.Rathnavathi.D, SWO extended her best wishes to the programme. The members of IQAC Mr.Shridhar.V, Dr.Vijayalakshmi, Mrs.Bhavya.P.M organized various programmes and competitions like Rangoli, Drawing and Essay respectively, to impart knowledge on Jalashakthi Abhiyana and create awareness about its goals and objectives. Students performed a skit on the importance of water conservation in this programme.
Orientation and National Education Policy Awareness program was held on 8-11-2021 in the college for the students of the academic year 2021-22. Dr. Jayakar Bhandari, Special officer, office of Joint Director Mangalore was the chief guest and elaborated on the New Education policy to the new students and to the parents.
The IQAC and Staff Club of Nehru Memorial College Sullia organized an Awareness Programme under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of the Govt. of India on 22-10-2021 for teaching and non-teaching staff of the institute.
Dr. Sayigeetha Jnanesh, Medical Officer, K.F.D.C Garden Hospital Sullia was the resource person and talked about the responsibility of a citizen towards cleanliness and the role of teachers in spreading awareness among the students with regard to cleanliness. She has unveiled the pamphlets on Cleanliness in this occasion. There was an awareness programme in the public by distributing pamphlets.
Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Nehru Memorial College Sullia in collaboration with NSS, NCC, YRC and Rovers Rangers has organized Harmony day on 19-08-2021 at College AV Room.
Sri Bapu Saheb, Sri Jayaprakash Kukketty, Smt. Reshma Veera Crastha were the chief guests and delivered speeches on the importance of harmony in our nation. Principal Sri Rudra Kumar M M presided over the function.
Programme officers of all the wings, IQAC coordinator and all teaching and non-teaching staff participated in this programme and took an oath of harmony.
IQAC of the college has taken initiative to organize Covid Vaccination for the students and staff of the college on 30-06-2021 in the college premises.
