COMEX 2K25

Department of commerce and commerce association of our college organized an interclass fest COMEX 2K25 on 21st November 2025. This fest was organized and hosted by final B .Com students with leadership of LITHESH,DEEKSHITHA G ACHAR,HARSHITH K L,MEGHANA with the objective of acquiring managerial skill with the guidance of all faculty members of commerce department.
The interclass commerce fest “COMEX 2K25” was inaugurated at the college auditorium on 21st November 2025. The day began on a very auspicious note with the invocation of god’s blessing followed by the official Inauguration of the fest by the chief guest Dr. Ishwara Gowda P, assistant prof & HOD of commerce Sacred Heart college, Madanthyar. He delivered a valuable speech and wished the programme a grand success. Further the presidential address was given by Sri K V Hemanath, scretary AOLE® Sullia. Mrs Rathnavathi D HOD of commerce and Student Welfare Officer NMC Sullia wished for the success of the function.
On 20thNovember 2025 Mad add competition was conducted as a part of inter class commerce fest.
The fest conveners of “COMEX 2K25” were Mrs Divya T S, Mr Shridhar V, Mrs Geetha Shenoy and the student coordinators were Mr LITHESH B , Ms Deekshitha G Achar of final B.Com. Total 8 team consisting of 14 members each from 1st and 2nd year B.Com classes participated in the various events of the fest in a separate name such as :

The events were judged by faculties of various college and Alumni’s of our college. The final round of Best Manager was stress interview, which was judged by Mr Vinay Lecturer in Economics NMPUC Sullia and Mr Rajath Kumar Alumni of our college.
VALIDICTORY FUNCTION
The fest ended with valedictory function with the presence of Dr Rudrakumar M M, Principal as the president of the function. Mr Rajath kumar, Alumni of our college was chief guest of the programme.

The fest provided bigger platform for student to showcase, learn and explore their intellectual capabilities. All the events were judged by the professionals in respective areas. The participants rated on the rating scale of top two scorers throughout the all events. The winner securing first and second position in the event were awarded with trophies and certificates.

INAUGURAL SESSION
Day 1: 15th October 2025


The inaugural session commenced with invocation of Prayer song and Lamping the light as a symbol of inauguration by the distinguished members on the dais.
Dr. Rudrakumar M.M., Principal and Organizing Secretary, welcomed the gathering, the guests and delegates to the seminar and also give a brief background of seminar. He said in his introductory speech about the seminar. The seminar was held with the objective of promoting academic discussion and research on the digital transformation of financial systems, particularly focusing on financial inclusion, digital literacy, financial technology, and the accessibility of digital financial services among indigenous and rural communities.
The event brought together academicians, researchers, policymakers, and students to exchange insights, share experiences, and identify opportunities and challenges in fostering a digitally inclusive financial ecosystem. He thanked ICSSR SRC for their generous funding and cooperation for the smooth conduction of the programme.
The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Kavitha K.R. the Joint Director of Department of collegiate education, Regional Director office Mangalore who, in her inaugural address, emphasized the importance of digital empowerment in rural and tribal areas and encouraged academia to take active roles in driving financial inclusion through education and research.

THEME PAPER PRESENTATION
After the inaugural session there was a special session on the paper presentation. Dr. Priti K Rao, assistant Professor and HOD Department of Management government First Grade College Sullia, presented the theme paper entitled
A study on psychology of cashless Society: Impact of Digital Payments on Human Behaviour was 15 minutes discussion on the topic and there are several questions by the audience and the presenter has given clarification to the audience on theme paper.

The Panel Discussion was a significant component of the National Seminar on “Digital Payments and Financial Services in Indigenous Communities: Opportunities and Challenges” organized by the Department of Commerce and IQAC, Nehru Memorial College, Sullia. The session was chaired by Dr. Dinesh P. T., Principal, KSS College, Subrahmanya, and moderated by Dr. Vijayalakshmi N. S., Head, Department of Economics, NMC Sullia.

NATIONAL LEGAL SERVICES DAY CELEBRATION
Department of Commerce & Commerce Association in association with IQAC jointly organized Inauguration programme “National Legal Services Day Celebration” on the topic ‘Legal Information for Common People’ on 11 November, 2025 at College Auditorium.
Dr. Rudrakumar M M, the principal of NMC presided over the programme. Mr. Ranjith Kukketty Advocate, Sullia was the resource person of the programme. In his speech he explained the various free legal services available to backward community and economically backward people and initiatives taken by the government to raise the legal awareness and popularising the mechanism like Lok Adalath for dispute resolution.

GST REFORMS: IMPACT ON INDIAN ECONOMY
Department of Commerce & Commerce Association in colloboration with IQAC jointly organized programme on the topic GST Reforms: Impact On Indian Economy
in the College Auditorium on 31st October 2025.
The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Bhagirathi Murulya, MLA of Sullia Assembly Constituency . In her inaugural speech she provided useful guidance to the students to enlighten student’s life . She also wished a grand success to the programme.

Meera K, Lecturer in Commerce, Government Pre university College , Sullia was
the chief guest and inaugurator of the programme. In the inaugural speech she
enlighten the importance of student’s life and the role of students in self-
empowerment, academic excellence, skill development and personality building.

IBM Skill Development Programme Certificate Course Organized by the Department of Commerce, Commerce Association, Department of Social Work & IQAC In Collaboration with Magic Bus India Foundation
Introduction
The Department of Commerce & Commerce Association, Department of Social Work, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Nehru Memorial College, Sullia, in collaboration with Magic Bus India Foundation, successfully organised a five-day IBM Skill Development Programme / Certificate Course for B.Com and BSW students. The programme was conducted in the NMC Auditorium from 18th to 22nd August 2025 as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Magic Bus India Foundation and Nehru Memorial College.
The objective of the programme was to impart essential skills and competencies to students, thereby equipping them with industry-relevant knowledge, employability skills, and confidence to excel in today’s competitive professional environment.

The inaugural session was held on 18th August 2025 at the NMC Auditorium.

The Chief Guest inaugurated the programme and addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of skill development initiatives in higher education. INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO KARNATAKA MILK FEDERATION 2024
To understand the various stages of milk processing, learn about quality control and hygiene standards in the dairy industry, and gain insights into KMF’s role in empowering dairy farmers
Key Observations :Milk Reception and Testing: We observed the process of milk collection from farmers, its testing for quality, and chilling. Pasteurization and Processing: We witnessed the pasteurization process, which eliminates harmful bacteria, and learned about the production of various dairy products like milk, curd, butter, and ghee. Packaging and Distribution: We saw how milk and dairy products are packaged and prepared for distribution. Quality Control: We observed the stringent hygiene and quality control measures followed throughout the process. Cooperative Framework: We learned about KMF’s cooperative structure and its impact on the livelihoods of dairy farmers in Karnataka.
Conclusion:The industrial visit to KMF Milk Factory was a highly informative and enriching experience. It provided valuable practical insights into the functioning of the food processing industry and the role of cooperatives in the Indian economy. We extend our gratitude to both organizations for their hospitality and for providing us with this learning opportunity.


INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO CAMPCO 2024
To understand the process of chocolate manufacturing from bean to bar, observe quality control measures, and learn about the cooperative business model of CAMPCO.
Key Observations:Bean Processing: We observed the cleaning, roasting, and grinding of cocoa beans to create cocoa liquor. Chocolate Production: We witnessed the mixing of ingredients (cocoa liquor, sugar, milk powder, etc.), refining, conching, and tempering processes involved in chocolate making. Molding and Packaging: We saw how different shapes and sizes of chocolates are molded and packaged. Quality Control: We learned about the rigorous quality checks at each stage of production to ensure high standards. Cooperative Structure: We gained insights into CAMPCO’s cooperative model, which benefits farmers and promotes regional development.
Conclusion:The industrial visit to CAMPCO Chocolate Factory and KMF Milk Factory was a highly informative and enriching experience. It provided valuable practical insights into the functioning of the food processing industry and the role of cooperatives in the Indian economy. We extend our gratitude to both organizations for their hospitality and for providing us with this learning opportunity.

Industrial visit : Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company (P) Ltd. Munnar
Industrial visit to Kerala was organized by the Commerce Association of Nehru Memorial College to provide students with practical exposure to the tea industry and the Region’s natural beauty. The tour aimed to enhance our understanding of tea production and its contribution to the economy and society. This report provides a comprehensive Overview of the visit by final-year B.Com students and the commerce department lecturers.
On the first day, we embarked on an adventurous off-road jeep ride in Amapara, followed by a visit to Kathadi Para. We admired the majestic Ramakalmedu statue and enjoyed a trek at Kuravan Mala, which offered breathtaking views. The day concluded with a DJ and Campfire, fostering group relaxation. The second day focused on exploring Munnar’s natural and industrial landscapes, with a significant highlight being our visit to a renowned tea factory i.e Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company (P) Limited. This visit provided in-depth exposure to the entire tea production process, from the lush Tea plantations to the final packaged product. We observed the meticulous plucking of tea leaves and followed them through various processing stages, including withering, rolling, fermenting, drying, and packaging.The factory tour offered valuable insights into the technology and techniques used to ensure the quality of the tea. Following the tea factory visit, we explored the Rose Garden, Mattupetty Dam, Top Station, and Echo Point, each offering unique scenic beauty. We returned to college enriched with knowledge and unforgettable memories of Kerala’s industrial and natural wonders

On 03-10-2023 Department of Commerce and Commerce Association organized an inauguration programme of Commerce Association activities. The official welcoming ceremony of new students was held along with this programme.
The Industrial visit tour was organized by commerce association, to provide students with practical exposure to the silk industry and the rich history of railways. The tour aimed to enhance their understanding of these industries and their contribution to the economy and society. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the visit to both the silk industry and the railway museum by Nehru Memorial college, final year B.Com students and the commerce department lecturers.
A state level students Conference was organized by BTCG Govt. First Grade College, Somwarpet. Interclass Commerce Fest sambhram 2K23
The Department of Commerce and Commerce Association of our college organized an Interclass Fest “Sambhram 2K23” on 24th January 2023. This Fest was organized and hosted purely by final year B.Com students with the leadership of Ms Anagha R.U and Mr Shrivatsa with the objective of acquiring managerial skills, with the guidance of all faculty members of the Commerce department.
The inter-class Commerce fest “Sambhram 2K23” was inaugurated at the college auditorium on 24th January 2023. The day began on a very auspicious note with the invocation of God’s blessings followed by the official inauguration of the fest by the chief guest Prof. M Balachandra Gowda Academic Advisor, NMC Sullia. The intercollegiate Commerce fest “COM INSTANIA 2k22” was Organized by the Department of Commerce and Commerce Association and was inaugurated at the college auditorium on 27th august 2022. The day began on a very auspicious note with the invocation of god’s blessings followed by the official inauguration of the fest by the chief guest DR. Govinda N.S, Associate professor Department of English, KSS college Subramanya. He delivered a valuable speech and wished the organizer a grand success.Further, the Presidential address was given by Mrs Shobha Chidanada, Treasurer ALOE ® Sullia. Prof. Rudhrakumar M M, Principal, Prof. M Balachandra Gowda, Academic advisor, and Mrs Rathnavathi D HOD, Department of Commerce and Student welfare officer, NMC Sullia witnessed the inaugural function.
Mr Abhishek A of 3rd b.com A was felicitated by all the dignitaries for his immense achievement. On 23rd August 2022 poster of COMINSTANIA 2K22 was launched through Flash mob by our B.com students were excellent.
The Fest Conveners of COM INSTANIA 2K22 were Mrs Geetha Shenoy, Mrs Divya T S and The Student Co-ordinator were Ms Kaushalya H V and Mr Chintan S Rai of final year B.com.
The main purpose of the fest is to exchange ideas and explore the knowledge of PU students of different colleges. The competition had a total of 7 different events like Best Manager, Finance, Human Resource, Commerce Model, Quiz, Photography, and Marketing which were conducted on the same day.
It was overwhelming to see that 12 teams participated in a different competition. The schedule of the programme was planned such that the 7 competitions were organized in parallel sessions in separate rooms. The morning session began with the registration for the respective events. The fest provided a bigger platform for students to showcase, learn and explore their intellectual capabilities.
All the events were judged by the professionals in the respective areas. The participants were rated on a rating scale of 20 marks based on the average score of the judges the first 2 winners were finalised.

The fest ended with the valedictory function with the presence of Chief guest CA Shreenidhi D R, Partner PRSR & Co Chartered Accountant. It is also overwhelming to say that he was the Alumnus of the Department of Commerce. Mr Hemanatha K V Joint secretary AOLE® Sullia was the honourable President of the function and the Guest of honour was Mr Shivaprasad Kanippila, PTA President NMC Sullia. With the tremendous participation of the participants, the Runner trophy was bagged by St.PHILOMENA PU College Puttur and the Overall Champion trophy was crowned by VIVEKANANDA PU COLLEGE, Puttur.

One Day National Level Seminar on
“ROLE OF DIGITAL BANKING IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT”
A One Day National Seminar on “Role of Digital Banking in Economic Development was organized on 15-7-2022 by UG and PG Department of Commerce, Nehru Memorial College, Sullia with the collaboration of Mangalore University-Commerce Teachers Association (MUCTA).
Programme began with a prayer by Kum Rathna Sinchana and Kum Krithika of Ist B Com. Prof Rudrakumar M M, Principal of Nehru Memorial College welcomed the gathering. Mrs Shobha Chidananda, Treasurer AOLE ®, Sullia inaugurated the Seminar. Mrs Geetha Shenoy, Lecturer, Department of Commerce introduced the Key Note Speaker. Dr Kusumakar Hebbar who was the Keynote Addressor for the programme session delivered the keynote address.
Dr Hebbar emphasised on digitalization, information storage in electronic databases, programs and devices followed for banking transactions which save time. He also said that the rapid influx of information and communication technologies into our legs has sharply increased the globalization of work economic relations, competition in the market for suppliers of goods and services, including financial ones.
Dr Chidananda K V, President AOLEⓇ Sullia, in his presidential address said that it is a digital world. The bank must recognise new dynamics to acquire and retain customers. He also stressed that advancement in digital banking provides some of the most existing opportunities in the generation of financial services. Prof Parshwanath Ajri, President MUCTA witnessed and appreciated the conduct of the National seminar. Prof Balachandra Gowda M, Academic Advisor, NMC Sullia were the valuable Guest of honour of the Seminar. Mrs Rathnavathi D, Head of the Department of Commerce and Convenor of the Seminar proposed a vote of Thanks. Mrs Bhavya P M, Head of the Department of English did the master of Ceremony.
The speaker of the Technical Session-I was Dr Shacheendran V, Head of Associate professor, GPM Government College, Manjeshwara, Kasaragod District Kerala who spoke on Digital Transformation and Strategy in the Banking Sector. Mrs Divya T S, Lecturer, Department of Commerce Welcomed the gathering and Mrs Meenakshi, Lecturer, Department of Commerce introduced the Resource Person. Dr Shacheendran gave his opinion that Digital Transformation allows financial Institutions to know what the people actually want. New Innovative technological development allows banks to strengthen customer engagement with personalised offerings. The bankers are pillars of the economy. Mr Balachandra Gowda M, Academic Advisor, NMC Sullia was the moderator for the session. Mrs Ashwini M S, Lecturer, Department of Commerce proposed a vote of Thanks.
Later Paper presentations by delegates were conducted in two parallel tracks. The First track was chaired by Prof Parshwanath Ajri, President MUCTA and moderated by Prof Ramachandra, Assistant Professor, GFGC, Sullia under the guidance of Mrs Divya T S, Lecturer, Department of Commerce and the second track was chaired by Prof Achutha Poojary Head of the Department of Commerce, GFGC, Bantwal and Moderated by Dr Vijayalaxmi Head of the Department of Economics, NMC, Sullia, under the guidance of Mrs Ashwini M S, Lecturer, Department of Commerce. Papers were presented on topics in the area of Digital banking channels in emerging economy, Digital transformation, Green Banking, etc.,
During Post Lunch Session, the second technical session on “Role of Digital banking in Indian Economic Growth” was held and the speaker was Mr Shymaraj, Manager, Karnataka Bank Ltd., Sullia and Mrs Bhavya P M, Head of the Department of English, NMC, Sullia was the Moderator.

Department of Commerce conducted an Industrial visit on the 30th of March 2022 to JK Tires and Industrial Ltd., Vikrant Tyre Plant – 1, Mysore. The team of 40 students and 6 lecturers and one attender visited the plants. Mrs. Rathnavathi D, HOD of Commerce, and lecturers of the Department of Commerce Mr. Shridhara V, Mrs. Geetha Shenoy, Mrs. Meenakshi, Mrs. Ashwini M S, and Mr. Pavan Kumar escorted the team to the Industrial visit.




The study tour to Mysore was organized by the Department of Commerce NMC Sullia for 2 days from 29-03-2022 to 31-03-2022. The team of 40 students of final B.Com class and 6 lecturers and one attender of the Department of Commerce visited to the places. Mrs. Rathnavathi D, HOD of Commerce, and lecturers of the Department of commerce Mr. Shridhara V, Mrs. Geetha Shenoy, Mrs. Meenakshi, Mrs. Ashwini M S, and Mr. Pavan Kumar escorted the team to the educational tour.
The journey began on 29th March at 11:00 p.m from the college campus. Our team reached Mysore on 30th March, at 4:00 a.m. we visited Chamundi Hill, Shukhavana, KRS Dam, and GRS Fantasy Park.

The objective of the webinar is to provide information to students about the importance of Cyber Security & various types of Cyber-attack & threats. The Webinar platform was Google Meet. The resource person of the webinar was Mr. Avinash M.S, MCS, Junior Associate in Indian Institute of Banking officer, Network & IT Security.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT 2020-21
Department of commerce organized an Industrial visit to “Kinfra Small Industries Park”, Seethangoli, Kasargod On 15th January 2020 for Final Year B Com students.
Industries visited were M/s Poornachandra Pipes, Pionnier Roofing India Private Ltd., M/s Granite Udyog.



























The Inaugural Function was held at College Auditorium on 17-09-2018 at 2.00 P.M. and the fest was inaugurated by the President of the function Dr. K. Giridhara Gowda, Principal, NMC, Sullia. Mrs. Rathnavathi D and Mrs. Anantha Lakshmi Course co-ordinators of Commerce and Business Administration Departments , Mr. Hariprasad A.V. and Mr. Shridhara V . Fest Conveners were present in the Programme. Mr. Shri Krishna Prasad of III B.Com and Miss. Poonam Kariappa M of III BBA student Conveners of the fest.
The Validictory Function was held at College Auditorium on 18-09-2019 at 4.30 P.M. I BBA were the winners of the fest and III BBA were the runners.
















The president of the function was Dr. K.V. Chidananda , President AOLE® Sullia And Guest of Honour was Professor Javare Gowda Campus welfare officer and Dr. Giridhara Gowda K Principal Nehru Memorial College Sullia and Mrs. Rathnavathi D and Mrs. Anantha Lakshmi Course co-ordinators of Commerce and Business Administration Departments , Student conveners Karthik K B and Deeksha B H of III B.com were Presented in the Programme. There were 5 events conducted for the Students of Different colleges . Total 13 colleges participated in the events. Events are – Best Manager, Quiz , Finanace , Marketing , Photography. The Validictory Function was held at College Auditorium at 4.30 P.M.

There are Cash price and Trophy for All events . The Overall Championship secured by the ST.Philomena College Puttur and the Runners up price secured by the Cauvery College Gonikoppa .

Fest Conveners were present in the Programme. There were 6 events conducted for the Students. Total 21 teams are participated in the events. Events are – Best Manager, Quiz, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, and Mad-ad. The Validictory Function was held at College Auditorium on 14-09-2017 at 4.30 P.M.
