The Department of Political Science has organized National Voter’s Day celebration at college AV room . Dr. Rudrakumar M M Principal of NMC was presided over the programme. Dr. Mamatha. K HOD of Political Science has executed oath taking ceremony and delivered a talk on ‘Importance of voting rights’. The staffs and students were present in the programme.

Outcome: The students received information about the operations and record keeping of the Police station from the PSI and Station House Officer(SHO) The students interacted with the police officers as a part of their curriculum and the services it provides to the community

The Department of Political Science has organized a study visit to police station Sullia. The students from BA stream are escorted by 4 faculties of Humanities Department.

Dr. Mamatha.K HOD of Political Science has presented a paper on one day National seminar held at Vivekananda College Puttur. The title of the paper is “Role of Political Science Education in Fostering Public Participation- A special study of Bantwal taluk of DK District.

Ms. Gana B D of final BA presented a paper on “Does the knowledge of Political Science strengthens Nationalism” undrer the guidance of Dr. Mamatha. K HOD of Political Science.

Objectives: Celebration of Constitutional Day aims to deepen citizen’s understanding of the Constitution and their role in Strengthening Democracy, ensuring a legacy that continues to inspire future generations.

Samvidhan Diwas or Constitutional day is celebrated to Commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India on 26 th November 1949. It came into effect from 26 th January 1950.

Outcome: It develops Constitutional awareness, civil responsibilities , National spirit , unity , legacy among the students The Department of Political Science has organized Constitutional Day celebration at college auditorium.

EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO VARIOUS PLACES MYSORE

Educational visit to various Places of Mysore

Places: District court Mysore, Central Jail Mysore, St. Philomena Church Mysore, Mysore Palace

Beneficiaries: BA Students

Objectives: The visit was to help the students to understand the role of the Court in dispensing justice in every case

Outcome: The court visit allows the students to see how the lawyers present arguments, analyse evidence and navigate courtroom procedures. This is far different from reading summarised arguments in textbooks

             The Department of Political Science organized a one-day educational visit to various places. Four faculty members escorted the BA students.

CONSTITUTIONAL AWARENESS JATHA : 21 FEB 2024

The Department of Political Science and IQAC has organized Constitutional Awareness Jatha on 21st February 2024. The Jatha marched from the KVG circle Kurunjibagh to Nehru Memorial College. The Jatha was inaugurated by Dr. Rudrakumar M M, the Principal of NMC. The special talk was delivered by Prof. Teena H S of KVG Law College Sullia. Prof. M Balachandra Gowda, Academic Advisor of NMC, Dr. Pramod Asst. Prof. of KVG Ayurveda Medical College, Sullia, Mrs. Mithali P Rai, Principal of NMPUC, Dr. Arshiya of Social Wellfare Dept. Sullia, Prof. Udayashankara H of GFGC Sullia and Mrs. Rathnavathi D, SWO of NMC were present in the programme. The students of NMC, Students from sister institutions and students from Govt. First Grade College sullia have actively participated in the Jatha

ELECTORAL LITERACY PROGRAMME 2023

The Department of Political Science and the Electoral Literacy club organized Electoral Literacy Programme on 01/12/2023. The programme was inaugurated by Sri. Manjunath, Thahashildar of Sullia taluk. The program was presided over by Prof. Rudrakumar M.M, Principal of Nehru Memorial College Sullia. Dr. Mamatha.K, HOD of Political Science delivered Introductory words. Mrs.Rathnavathi.D, Student Welfare Officer was present in the program. Miss Harshitha of III B.A proposed vote of thanks. Miss Gana B.D of II B.A, Student Representative of ELC mastered the ceremony.

CONSTITUTIONAL DAY 2023

The Department of Political Science has organized Constitutional Day celebration on 27/11/2023. The Oath taking ceremony was conducted by Dr. Mamatha K, HOD of Political Science. All the teaching, Non-teaching and the students were present in the programme. In order to commemorate the Constitutional day celebration quiz competition was organized by III B.A students followed by prizes.

NATIONAL UNITY WEEK 2023

In connection with National Unity Week 2023, a Programme on Awareness about Special facilties for minorities was conducted by the Department of Political Science. Prof. Rudrakumar M.M, Principal of our college presided over the programme. Mr. Mohammad Saddam, Hostel Superintendent of BCW was the resource person of the day and he enlightened the students by giving guidance about the various governmental facilities for minorities. Mrs. Rathnavathi.D was present in the programme. Dr. Mamatha.K, HOD of Political Science organized the programme. Miss.Farzana of IIIrd B.A mastered the ceremony.

TRAINING PROGRAM

The Department of Political Science has organized a Training Programme on inclusion of names in the Electoral Roll for Graduates and Teacher’s constituency on 26/10/2023 at 3:00 P.M. Prof.Rudra Kumar M.M, Principal of the college presided over the programme. Sri Chandrakanth, Deputy Thahashildar of Sullia Taluk was the Resource person of the day by inspiring the faculties of our college to enroll their names in the Graduate and Teacher’s Constituency Electoral Roll. Mrs. Rathnavathi.D, Student welfare Officer was present in the programme. Mr.Thippeswamy D.H ,H.O.D of History welcomed the gathering. Dr. Mamatha.K , H.O.D of Political Science proposed the vote of thanks.

INTRENATIONAL DEMOCRACY DAY 2023

The Department of Political Science and IQAC jointly organized International Democracy Day on September 15th 2023 at college auditorium. Prof. Rudrakumar. M M Principal, Nehru Memorial College was presided over the function. Dr. Mamatha. K, Head of the Department of Political science gave a talk on “The Preamble of the Indian Constitution”. Mrs. Rathnavthi D, Student Welfare Officer, Mr. Thippeswamy. D.H, Head of the Department of History were present in the programme. The 11th National Voters Day was celebrated at Nehru Memorial College Sullia in collaboration with Taluk office Sullia on 25th January 2021. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Purushothama, honorable civil judge of Sullia JMFC. Miss. Anithalakshmi, honorable Tahshildar of Sullia Taluk presided over the function and conducted the oath-taking ceremony on the election. The special talk on “The National Voter’s Day was delivered by Mr. Ramachandra Bhat of Karnataka Public School, Bellare. Dr. Poovappa Gowda K, Principal NMC Sullia and Mr. Bhavanishankara S, CEO of Sullia Taluk Panchayat were present in this programme.
