----------The Workshop on Life Skills "Ignite Career -2024”----------

The Department of English in collaboration with Sajjana Prathistana Beejadakatte ® organized one day Like Skill workshop “ Ignite Career” on 19-10 2024. Dr. Ummar Beejadakatte, the president of Sajjana Prathistana Beejadakatte ®, the proud alumnus of NMC, the Senior Executive Vice President, HR-Training & Administration, Pharmed Ltd. Bengaluru and Mr. Vikram Sagar Saxena, Asst. Vice President L & D, Pharmed Ltd. Bengaluru were the Resource Persons of the Programme.

Mrs. Shobha Chidananda, Vice President of AOLE ® Sullia was the president of the Function, Mr. Chandrashekara Peralu, Administrator of NMC was the Chief Guest of the programme. Dr. Rudrakumar M M, Principal, mrs. Rathnavathi D, SWO, Dr. Mmamatha K, IQAC Coordinator were presence with eminence. Mrs. Bhavya P M, HOD of English was the convener of the peogramme and proposed the welcome address. Mrs. Ranjeeta B R faculty of English proposed the vote of thanks.

----------The Programme on "Crack English in Entrance Exams -2024”----------

Department of English has organised a workshop for student on “Crack English in Entrance Exams” on 2nd March, 2024. Dr. Saraswathi C K, a Freelancer for Writing Services was the resource person. Mrs. Rathnavathi D, Student Welfare Officer, presided over the programme. Dr. Mamatha K IQAC Coordinator, grace the programme with honorary presence. MRs. Bhavya P M, Head Dept. of English Welcome the guests and Mrs. Ranjeet B R, Asst. Prof. Dept of English proposed the vote of thanks.

----------The Programme on "Vigilance Awareness Week-2023”----------

The Department of English and IQAC of Nehru Memorial College, organized a Quiz Competition as Capacity Building Programme to Observe Vigilance awareness week 2023 on 2nd November 2023.

----------The Programme on "International Translation Day”----------

The Department of English and IQAC of Nehru Memorial College, organized a workshop for students on translation in the occasion of “International Translation Day” on 3rd October 2023. Mrs. Chandravathi Baddadka, an alumnus of NMC and a professional translator, amateur writer and the journalist was the resource person of the workshop. Mr. Rudrakumar M M, the principal presided over the inauguration function. Prof Balachandra Gowda, the academic advisor and Dr. Mamatha K, IQAC coordinator were the honourable guests of the programme. Mrs. Bhavya P M, HOD of English and the convener of the workshop, welcome the guests and Mrs. Ranjeeta  B R, Asst. Prof of English proposed the vote of thanks. Ms  Krithika of III B.Com  introduced the guest and Ms. Ankitha of III B.Com, has done the MC.

----------The Programme on "Content Writing”----------

The Department of English has organized a programme “Best Opportunities in Content Writing” for students on 20-06-2023. Mrs. Saraswathi C K, a freelancer for writing services was the resource person. The Student Welfare Officer Mrs. Rathnavathi D presided over the programme. Mrs. Bhavya P M, and Mrs. Ranjeeta B R faculty of Dept. of English were present in the programme.

----------The Programme on“ Learn To Mail”---------

The Department of English has organized a training programme “ Learn To Mail” for the II year students on 17-04-2023. Mr. Vinod K H from Dept. of IT, K V G Medical College & Hospital was the resource person. The principal Mr. Rudrakumar M M presided over the programme. Mrs. Bhavya P M, and Mrs. Ranjeeta B R faculty of Dept. of English were present in the programme.

----------The Programme on “Online Teaching Tools”---------

Programme Report: Department of English The Department of English has organized a workshop for faculties on “Online Teaching Tools” on 29-07-2021. Mrs. Harini Putturaya, Principal of Nehru Memorial Pre University College, Sullia and Mrs. Deeksha M D, Lecturer Department of Computer Science were the resource persons. The principal Dr. Poovappa Gowda K, presided over the function. Student welfare offi cer Mr. Rudrakumar M and IQAC coordinator Mrs. Rathnavathi has witnessed with their gracious presence. ----------The Programme on "Language Through Literature----------

The Department of English has organised a programme on “Language Through Literature” on 3rd September 2018. Dr. Ravindran K Assot. Prof of Dept. of English, S V S College Bantwal was the resource person.

----------"Matribhasha Diwas" celebration----------

The UGC circular asked colleges to celebrate the Mathribhasha Diwas on the 21st of February. Accordingly, the Department of English decided to celebrate the day to create awareness among the multi languages speaking students of the college.

A formal function was held on 21-2-2018. The importance of Mother Tongues in the Indian context was explained to the students.

I. Speakers:

  • Poovappa Gowda K spoke on – How to Save our Languages.
  • Shakira Jabeen B. – Where to Stop English

II. Songs, Speeches and Jokes in Mother Tongues by the students:

  • 15 students sang songs in their Mother Tongues
  • 10 students spoke about their Mother Tongues in their own language.
  • Jokes were narrated in Mother Tongues

III. Poster Exhibition:

Around 40 posters in 14 languages were exhibited. The interest it generated among the students was encouraging. Areas the posters covered varied from –

  4. Word list of important words of kinship, months and colours
  5. Script
  6. Letters of the Alphabet

----------Workshop on Competency Building through Language Skills----------

The Department of English organized a workshop on 21st September 2017 for the first BA and BBA students. Dr. H Madhava Bhat, Prof. in English, PG Studies and Research Center, SDM College (Autonomous) Ujije, was the resource person.
